The Vision of Biotech4Food
Biotech4Food is designed to leverage biotechnological advancements to improve food quality, enhance production efficiency, and promote sustainability in agriculture. By integrating research, technology, and practical applications, the project seeks to create a resilient food system capable of meeting the growing global demand.
Anchor SMEs in Biotech4Food
At the beginning of the project, 4 SMEs joined the project as full partners in order to receive fundings to support the development of one of their biotech projects, ranging from 70’000€ to +150’000€.
BCF Life Sciences
BCF is a French company specializing in the extraction of bioactive molecules from animal and plant sources. BCF Life Sciences focuses on developing natural ingredients for the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries, emphasizing sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Artechno
Based in Belgium, Artechno is renowned for its expertise in biotechnology solutions for the agricultural sector. The company provides advanced equipment and systems for bioprocessing, contributing significantly to the optimization of biotechnological applications in agriculture.
Koukakis Dairy Farm
A Greek dairy producer known for its high-quality dairy products. Koukakis Dairy Farm combines traditional dairy farming techniques with modern biotechnological processes to enhance product quality and sustainability. Their commitment to excellence has made them a trusted name in the dairy industry.
Vésale Pharma
A Belgian company specializing in microbiome research and the development of probiotic solutions. Vésale Pharma leverages cutting-edge biotechnology to create innovative health products that improve gut health and overall well-being, playing a crucial role in the health segment of the agri-food industry.
Innovative SMEs in the Biotech4Food Project
In addition to the previous Anchor SMEs, eight other industrial SMEs were also chosen to receive fundings for one of their projects as well. If initially only the 4 Anchor SMEs were supposed to receive these fundings, the project quickly reviewed its objectives, to support more innovative projects.
Bugslab
An innovative company focused on insect-based biotechnology. Bugslab develops sustainable solutions for protein production, using insects as a viable alternative to traditional livestock. This approach not only addresses food security but also reduces environmental impact.
Avecom
A Belgian company specializing in microbial management and environmental biotechnology. Avecom provides solutions for optimizing microbial processes in various industries, including agriculture, where they enhance soil health and crop productivity through microbial interventions.
EVYP
A Greek company that harnesses the power of biotechnologies to improve agricultural practices. EVYP focuses on developing biofertilizers and biopesticides, aiming to reduce the reliance on chemical inputs and promote sustainable farming.
Calidris Bio
Based in Belgium, Calidris Bio works on sustainable aquaculture solutions. The company uses biotechnology to develop innovative feed ingredients that improve the health and growth rates of farmed fish, contributing to a more sustainable aquaculture industry.
THT
A biotech company that develops functional food ingredients with health benefits. THT (The Health Technological) focuses on extracting bioactive compounds from natural sources, creating products that promote health and well-being.
Atelier du Fruit
A French company specializing in the production of natural fruit extracts and concentrates. Atelier du Fruit uses biotechnological processes to enhance the nutritional value and flavor of their products, catering to the food and beverage industry.
Ingredalia
A Spanish company dedicated to the valorization of agricultural by-products through biotechnology. Ingredalia develops innovative ingredients for the food industry, promoting sustainability by reducing waste and creating value-added products.
Cocont
COCONT is a French company, specialised in the development and production of fermented or non-fermented plant alternatives with a high nutritional added value. COCONT leverages biotechnological processes to create products that enhance food safety and quality without compromising on naturalness.
If these projects are not directly linked between themselves, they are still part of the consortium of the project, and to another extent part of the European ecosystem that the Biotech4Food project is willing to federate.
In addition to these 12 SMEs, external companies will have the opportunity to join this ecosystem as well by attending some of the various activities that will be developed by the different Partners. Even if you can’t receive fundings for your project, don’t hesitate to join the ecosystem and take part to the next activities!
