The 3rd annual meeting, “Agrifood: Fast Forward into the Future,” was successfully held this week in Thessaloniki. The event brought the food industry closer to applied research, creating a space where companies and research institutions could exchange ideas and experiences. Throughout the sessions, participants discussed the main challenges currently facing the agri-food sector, highlighted key international trends, and outlined possible future actions that could strengthen the industry.
This year, the focus was placed on biotechnology and alternative proteins. Presentations and discussions examined not only the scientific progress being made in these areas but also the practical opportunities for the food industry. In particular, speakers emphasized the possibilities for financing both research activities and the development of new products through participation in programs funded directly by the European Union. This emphasis showed how collaboration at a European level can accelerate innovation and bring research results closer to the market.
The event concluded with B2B meetings between agri-food companies, research institutions, and consulting firms specializing in European projects. These meetings offered participants the chance to connect with potential partners, exchange practical knowledge, and explore new opportunities for cooperation in future initiative.
