This new video explores the dynamic agrifood innovation ecosystem in Wallonia, where biotechnologies are driving innovation within the food system towards sustainability, health, and circularity.
Wagralim, the agri-food cluster of Wallonia, together with a group of experts, has developed an ambitious roadmap for the sector, highlighting food biotechnologies as a key area to tackle future challenges.
The Biotech4Food project contributes to this vision by supporting the development and scaling of biotechnology-based solutions in the region.
Three Walloon companies are sharing how the Biotech4Food project is supporting their innovation journey:
- THT, a specialist in lactic fermentation for nutraceutical applications, is adapting its processes to enable both bacterial biomass production and the generation of bioactive secondary metabolites. This dual-purpose approach is paving the way for new products with added functional benefits.
- Artechno, focusing on the production of microorganisms for animal feed and agricultural applications, explains how the project is accelerating its research and fostering more sustainable microbiological solutions.
- Superbiotics, which develops innovative products based on live probiotics, has invested in new equipment thanks to Biotech4Food. This investment is helping the company optimize its drying processes and enhance product performance.
Together, these companies illustrate how Wallonia contributes to biotechnology innovation by combining regional cooperation, research expertise, and industrial capabilities to support a more resilient and sustainable food system.
