The Biotech4Food regional video series is back — this time from the South-East of France, featuring Innov’Alliance!
This new episode highlights the biotech and agrifood innovation landscape across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Sud (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur) regions. In this area, companies, research centres, and public institutions are working together to advance sustainable, nature-based solutions with a strong focus on circular bioeconomy and green innovation.
Claire Mermet, Chief Operations Officer at Innov’Alliance, introduces the cluster and its role in connecting actors across food, cosmetics, and agriculture to accelerate biotech innovation and promote a circular bioeconomy.
The video also features:
- Louis Fanget, Founder and CEO of COCONT, who presents his startup’s mission to use fermentation to deliver natural, plant-based alternatives for the food industry, and reflects on the innovation ecosystem supporting SMEs in the region. Thanks to Biotech4Food, COCONT is upscaling their tempeh-style product to the industrial scale and is working towards becoming a major player in the Clermont-Ferrand biotech ecosystem.
- At SADEF, Alain Etiévant (Research Director) and Aurélie Cendrès (Scientific Projects Manager) describe the company’s growing farm-to-fork strategy and their role as agrifood and biotech R&D experts. Thanks to Biotech4Food, SADEF‘s new Nutrition Hub is developing a natural, fermented ingredient as an alternative to artificial food preservatives.
- Bénédicte Martin, Co-President of the Regional Innovation Strategy “Nature-based technologies and innovation” for the Sud Region, discusses the regional policies and support measures in place to boost the green and biotech sectors — an important priority for the territory.
This episode illustrates how regional cooperation is essential to scale up biotech innovation and address sustainability challenges across Europe.
