Finding funding for our SMEs is one of the main objectives of the Biotech4Food project. We are looking to provide financial assistance to companies presenting innovative research and development projects in the field of biotechnology applied to the agri-food industry.
Since the beginning, 12 SMEs have joined the Biotech4Food Consortium as industrial partners (see the article Biotech4Food: A European Endeavor in Agri-food Biotechnologies), and 3 new companies have joined us to develop ever more innovative solutions. Let’s take a closer look at these 3 new industrial partners.
Abyss Ingredients
Abyss Ingredients was founded in 2004 on the initiative of Brittany’s fishing and fish processing professionnals who aimed at valuating marine by-products. The R&D team works together with universities and CROs on innovation and new developments to respond to the growing demand of natural and sustainable healthy-aging solutions. The efficacy of their ingredients is scientifically proven: Abyss Ingredients heavily invest in studies to bring to their clients full solution.
Hifas Innovation Hub (HIHUB)
Hifas Innovation Hub (HIHUB) is a venture builder for developing diverse science and technology-based solutions in market segments with high growth potential such as biomaterials, early drug discovery, functional food etc. . Its model consists of the identification of opportunities and the initial development of solutions on which to develop a unique business model that will enable the creation of new business entities specialised in bringing them to market. It is part of a group with more than 20 years of research on functional fungi.
PROVIL
PROVIL SA is a Greek company that produces ingredients and supplements for the food industry, mass catering, gastronomy and for meat retail business. For more than 25 years, PROVIL has been the trusted partner of both food production companies and professionals of gastronomy and organized catering in Greece and abroad, with our name being synonymous to know-how, quality, continuous development and reliability.
These companies dedicated to biotech R&D will bring their expertise and experience to the whole consortium. Having companies operating in different biotech sectors is a real added value for the project, allowing us to have a wide portfolio of projects with various expertise. Through the Biotech4Food project and the activities implemented, all the companies will have the opportunity to meet each other, discuss their interests, and create interregional connections, leading eventually to future collaborations and synergies.
