Welcome, November! Last week, we entered an exciting month for the Biotech4Food project. As we’ve mentioned before, on November 21st, we will hold the second Steering Committee of the year. This time, it will be hosted in Pamplona, the capital of Navarra, a region in northern Spain. Teams from different locations who typically work remotely on the project will gather there to meet in person, get to know each other better, and share updates on their respective contributions and results.
The project team will spend three days in Pamplona, not only for the Steering Committee but also to take part in study visits to regional companies and attend the AseBio Green Innovation Forum 2024, a prominent biotech event.
If you’re not familiar with the European project ecosystem, you might wonder why these in-person meetings are so important. That’s exactly why we wanted to write this article and share the details with you.
The Purpose of the Steering Committee
Like any other project, Biotech4Food is continuously monitored by European authorities to assess its progress, results, and the next steps. This is why follow-up meetings are scheduled regularly to review the development of the project, the objectives met, any challenges encountered, and potential solutions to emerging problems. These meetings serve as a platform for evaluating and enhancing the work of every team and individual involved.
In essence, a Steering Committee is a type of follow-up meeting, but it involves all project stakeholders. While meetings like the Monthly Board Report are focused on specific work packages and their leaders, the Steering Committee is more general and inclusive. It provides an opportunity for all participants to contribute, fostering collaboration and alignment. It’s also an excellent occasion to learn from each other, exchange experiences, and discuss challenges and solutions.
Additionally, it’s a valuable opportunity to understand how the industry and sector operate in other regions—what challenges they face and what initiatives they are pursuing to address them.
See You in Pamplona!
This year, the second Steering Committee will take place in Pamplona, Navarra (Spain). This northern Spanish region plays a key role in the country’s agrifood industry and is one of the core regions involved in the Biotech4Food project. Thanks to the efforts of CNTA and NAGRIFOOD, the project’s presence in the area has been greatly supported.
For this Steering Committee, our partners will arrive two days in advance to attend study visits to INGREDALIA, CNTA, and the AseBio Green Innovation Forum. What makes this meeting particularly exciting is that it will be the first time for the industrial partners to meet face-to-face, offering a great opportunity to build synergies and strengthen collaboration.
We’re thrilled about this upcoming Steering Committee and can’t wait to see the valuable conclusions and insights that will emerge in Pamplona. See you there!
