The first Advisory Board meeting of Biotech4Food was held on 14 January gathering 9 key biotech for food experts from Belgium, France, Spain, Greece and Italy. Their feedback will be useful to steer the strategic activities of the project towards strengthening the biotech for food sector, in particular in 3 value chains of high interest to the partner regions: #microbial proteins, #microalgae, and #probiotics. Two clear concerns highlighted by our experts – and therefore a requested area of focus for B4F – is supporting financially research and innovation in this complex and often expensive field and building transnational networks of excellence of actors. Early results from the B4F mapping around the 3 value chains show that in our seven regions leaders and emerging strong contenders can accelerate the strengthening of a competitive European ecosystem.
Connecting these European leaders and trailblazers across borders can ensure we can compete world-wide in this extremely strategic field and bring benefits to consumers wherever they are. Our coordinator Wagralim will consolidate the input received and will also leverage it as part of the wider @I4CE roadmap for the coming months. Watch this space!
